Power of Rupee
New Global Symbol

A Symbol That Carries a Nation's Confidence

The Indian Rupee symbol — ? — is one of the most consequential design acts of the 21st century: a single mark that gave a currency of 1.4 billion people a visual identity distinct from every other currency in the world. Adopted in 2010, the symbol was designed to be permanent; to carry India's economic identity into every context where that identity needs to be expressed. The Power of Rupee project asked a different question: what does that symbol become when it is made physical? When it is removed from the screen, the bill, the transaction, and given weight, material, and presence as a three-dimensional object? Studio ABD and ABD Xclusiv took that question seriously as a bespoke design brief.

An Installation of Economic Strength and Global Presence

The Power of Rupee object treats the ? symbol with the seriousness it deserves; not as graphic appliqué on a conventional trophy form, but as the structural and conceptual foundation of the object itself. The symbol's geometry generates the form. The material choices; selected for their relationship to India's economic ambitions and craft traditions; give the symbol a presence that is both contemporary and deeply rooted. This is spatial design and bespoke object design working together: the creation of a physical thing that communicates a cultural and economic significance that no two-dimensional application of the symbol can fully deliver.

India's Currency, India's Confidence; Made for the World Stage

At a moment when India's economic ambitions are global, when the Rupee is increasingly referenced in international trade, when Indian market growth is the story that the world's financial institutions are most closely watching; the Power of Rupee object communicates something specific and important: that India's design intelligence is equal to its economic ambitions. An Indian studio, designing an Indian symbol, at an international standard of craft. Designed by ABD Xclusiv as a bespoke recognition and installation object; part trophy, part cultural statement, part proof of where Indian design has arrived.
