DesignUp is India's foremost design conference; an annual gathering of designers, technologists, strategists, and thinkers who come together to understand where design is, where it is going, and what it owes the world. Designing for this audience is the most demanding creative brief: a room full of people who notice everything, who have strong opinions about every visual decision, and who will immediately identify the gap between an identity that was designed with conviction and one that was designed to satisfy a brief. Studio ABD approached the DesignUp identity with the only response that this audience deserves: complete seriousness about the work, and complete confidence in the choices.

From Trophy to Iconic Experience

The DesignUp brand identity was designed to be worthy of the conversations that happen inside the conference: about the role of design in society, about the responsibility of design to the people it affects, about the future of Indian design on the global stage. The visual system is rigorous and energetic in equal measure — communicating the urgency of design as a discipline without the earnestness that makes design self-advocacy feel like pleading. The identity speaks to people who are already converted, who need not to be persuaded of design's value but to feel that the conference representing them takes that value as seriously as they do. This is brand identity design for the Indian design community: by a studio that is part of that community.

Design That Amplifies; The Mission, Made Visual

The DesignUp identity was built to amplify; to make design louder, more visible, and more consequential in a world that still, too often, mistakes it for a service rather than a discipline. Every visual decision was made in service of that amplification: a mark that commands attention, a colour system that communicates energy and intelligence, a typographic language that is confident enough to stand alongside the ideas it represents. In designing for DesignUp, Studio ABD was also making an argument; the same argument the conference makes every year; that Indian design has earned its place at the centre of the global conversation, and that the identity of the platform representing it should look exactly like that is true.
